Video production built for engineering and manufacturing

Lift Video Production is a Melbourne video production company that works mostly with frontline industries, and engineering and manufacturing is one of the five we know best. We have filmed high-voltage equipment being assembled at Mayfield Group, a formwork fixing made in Melbourne being used on a slab pour, a butter factory in Sydney and safe work procedures for Dulux Group.

Factories are loud, busy and full of things a film crew should not touch. We complete your induction, wear what the floor requires and plan the shoot around production. One client wrote in a Google review that filming in "an active manufacturing environment presented its own challenges, with machinery operating and tradespeople working around us, but the team handled it all exceptionally well".

  • Factory floors, workshops and warehouses
  • Engineers, trades and operators on camera
  • Technical processes explained in plain language
  • Planned around production so the line keeps running
  • One shoot day fuels a hero film and social cut-downs

Engineering and manufacturing video production services

Three kinds of video, each with a specific job to do for a manufacturer or an engineering firm.

Capability and product films

A capability film shows a buyer or an assessor the factory, the people and the standard of work before they visit. A product film shows how the thing is made, how it works and why it is worth specifying. We made Mayfield Group's capability film on its factory floor and Formbolt's product film on a slab pour.

What we make

  • Capability and tender films
  • Product and demonstration films
  • Factory and facility tours
  • Brand and website films
  • Trade show content

What it does

  • Win tenders and supply contracts
  • Get specified by engineers and builders
  • Equip distributors and sales teams
  • Explain technical work in plain language
  • Show the factory to buyers who cannot visit

Customer stories for manufacturers

For a manufacturer, the most convincing voice is the customer running the equipment. We filmed a Port Kembla terminal operator talking about its Kalmar reachstackers, and operators around the country explaining why they run Mack and UD trucks. Dealers and sales teams use these long after the launch brochure is forgotten.

What we make

  • Customer case studies
  • Short testimonials
  • Dealer and distributor stories
  • Installation and project stories
  • Quote clips for sales and social

What it does

  • Give the sales team proof to send
  • Support dealers with local stories
  • Show the product at work
  • Shorten the sales conversation
  • Back up a tender with a real customer
A worker positioning a platform ladder in a warehouse aisle

Procedures, safety and recruitment

Standard operating procedures, machine and equipment training, and site inductions, filmed on your floor with your own equipment. Dulux Group replaced written procedures with a series of short videos and described them as ten times clearer. The same shoot can supply recruitment content, with trades and engineers talking about the work.

What we make

  • Procedure and SOP videos
  • Machine and equipment training
  • Site and contractor inductions
  • Apprentice and trade recruitment films
  • SCORM and LMS delivery

What it does

  • Cut incidents and equipment damage
  • Train consistently across shifts
  • Reduce induction time
  • Fill trade and engineering roles
  • Stay audit ready

How a project runs

Five stages, typically about 12 weeks from signed contract to final files. Each one shows what we do and what we need from you.

Brief

A call or a visit to work out who the video is for, what it needs to do and where it will be shown.

  • One conversation to brief us
  • A plan and a quote in writing
  • Hard deadlines mapped from day one

Your part: Tell us the problem you are trying to solve.

Plan

We write the script or interview questions, choose who will be on camera with you, and speak with each person before the shoot day. Locations, schedule and site requirements are locked in before anyone films.

  • Script or interview questions
  • A chat with everyone who will be on camera
  • A schedule built around your day

Your part: Approve the plan and help us line up people and places.

Shoot

A small crew sets up quickly and works around the day you already have. We film the interviews and the work itself.

  • Small crew, little disruption
  • Interviews and overlay footage
  • Drone footage where the site allows

Your part: Have one contact on site for the day.

Edit

We cut the main film, add music, graphics and captions, and send it to you for feedback. Your changes are made, the film comes back for sign off, and the shorter social versions follow.

  • A first cut for your feedback
  • Captions, graphics and music included
  • Social cut-downs from the same shoot

Your part: Collect feedback from your team in one go.

Deliver

You receive final files in the formats each platform needs, with caption files, and LMS-ready versions for training video. We can also help you plan where each video goes and when.

  • Files for web, social and screens
  • Caption files included
  • SCORM or LMS versions for training

Your part: Publish, and tell us how it goes.

Frankie from Australian Fluid Handling on camera

It felt like it happened overnight. It was so quick.

We are an engineering company, not a marketing company. The shoot day was organised but relaxed. People were nervous to begin with and Grant helped us just be ourselves.

About Lift →

Engineering and manufacturing video production across Australia

Our core team is based in Nunawading, in Melbourne's east, and much of our manufacturing work is filmed in factories and workshops around Melbourne. We also travel to where the product is made or used. Jobs have taken us to Adelaide for Mayfield Group, to Sydney for Pepe Saya and Meyer Food Co, and to Port Kembla for Kalmar.

For interstate and multi-site shoots we plan a schedule that keeps travel cost low, using our Melbourne team, trusted local crew, or a mix. Lift manages the production from start to finish wherever the crew comes from.

Frequently asked questions

What sales, marketing, operations and safety managers ask us before a project.

Have you worked in engineering and manufacturing before?

Yes. We have made films for Mayfield Group, KBR, Dulux Group, Formbolt, Katana Foundations, Australian Fluid Handling and Kalmar, and filmed inside food factories for Coolway Trans. That has put us on factory floors, in workshops and warehouses, and on site where the finished product is used.

Can you film without stopping production?

Yes. We plan the shoot around your production schedule, keep the crew small and stay out of the way of machinery and forklifts. If something can only be filmed during a changeover or a shutdown, we book around that.

Our process is technical. Can you explain it simply?

Yes. We speak with your engineers before the shoot, write the script in plain language and use graphics where footage cannot show what is happening. The aim is a film a buyer can follow without an engineering degree.

Can you keep confidential processes out of the video?

Yes. Tell us what cannot be shown and we keep it out of frame, and you approve every cut before anything is released.

Do your crew complete our site induction?

Yes. We complete your induction before the shoot day and turn up in the PPE your floor requires.

Can one shoot cover a product film and recruitment content?

Yes, and it usually should. A well planned shoot day gives you a main film, shorter versions for social and tenders, and interviews with your people.

Do you travel outside Melbourne?

Yes. Our core team is based in Melbourne and we film across Australia. Manufacturing work has taken us to Adelaide, Sydney and Port Kembla.

How much will it cost?

A single project film or profile piece starts around $6K. An induction and safety video together usually land between $17K and $20K, and a recruitment or brand campaign runs $25K to $60K.
