Show the job before they apply

A job ad tells a candidate what you want from them. A recruitment video shows them what they get: the people, the gear, the site and what a shift looks like. Candidates who have seen the job apply with their eyes open, and the ones who would not have lasted tend to rule themselves out.

We film your own drivers, nurses, apprentices, mechanics and graduates, and we speak with each of them before the shoot day so they are comfortable on camera.

  • Your own staff on camera, each one spoken with beforehand
  • A main careers film plus 15 to 45 second ads
  • Vertical versions with the offer on screen for sound-off viewing
  • Sized for your careers page, Seek, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram and TikTok

Kinds of recruitment video we make

What you need depends on how many roles you are filling and where the candidates are.

  • A set of films for different roles and channels, planned and filmed together. This is what we made for Linfox graduates, intermodal drivers and workshop mechanics.

  • One person, one shift, start to finish. Candidates see the early start, the gear and the people they would work with.

  • The longer film for your careers page that explains what it is like to work for you and why people stay.

  • Someone a year or three ahead of the candidate, talking about what they have learned. Genus Group's follows a third year apprentice on the power network.

  • Fifteen to 45 seconds built around what candidates ask first. Ron Finemore Transport's driver ad puts the pay, bonuses and conditions on screen.

  • Recruitment is wider than paid roles. We have made a volunteer film for Mayflower aged care and a student placement story for APNA.

  • Uses your own employees' words to build trust

How a recruitment video project runs

Five stages, typically about 12 weeks from signed contract to final files. If roles need filling sooner, tell us the date and we plan backwards from it.

Brief

A call or a visit to work out who the video is for, what it needs to do and where it will be shown.

  • One conversation to brief us
  • A plan and a quote in writing
  • Hard deadlines mapped from day one

Your part: Tell us the problem you are trying to solve.

Plan

We write the script or interview questions, choose who will be on camera with you, and speak with each person before the shoot day. Locations, schedule and site requirements are locked in before anyone films.

  • Script or interview questions
  • A chat with everyone who will be on camera
  • A schedule built around your day

Your part: Approve the plan and help us line up people and places.

Shoot

A small crew sets up quickly and works around the day you already have. We film the interviews and the work itself.

  • Small crew, little disruption
  • Interviews and overlay footage
  • Drone footage where the site allows

Your part: Have one contact on site for the day.

Edit

We cut the main film, add music, graphics and captions, and send it to you for feedback. Your changes are made, the film comes back for sign off, and the shorter social versions follow.

  • A first cut for your feedback
  • Captions, graphics and music included
  • Social cut-downs from the same shoot

Your part: Collect feedback from your team in one go.

Deliver

You receive final files in the formats each platform needs, with caption files, and LMS-ready versions for training video. We can also help you plan where each video goes and when.

  • Files for web, social and screens
  • Caption files included
  • SCORM or LMS versions for training

Your part: Publish, and tell us how it goes.

Deval Pathak from Ron Finemore Transport on camera

You knew how to make the camera work for the transport industry.

When I explained what I wanted, you understood it straight away. You have the sense of marketing and advertising, which makes it easy for any marketing person.

Built with HR and marketing teams

Recruitment video usually has two owners: the people team who need the roles filled and the marketing team who look after the brand. We work with both, and we film in a way that keeps the operation running.

Deval Pathak worked with us on a driver recruitment series for Ron Finemore Transport. Charlie Cole of ecoDynamics wrote in a Google review that the content has made an impact across the business, "from recruitment and social media presence to safety videos and how-to content".

If your business is struggling to attract enough quality applicants, or people are leaving before they've even settled into the role, the problem may be that candidates don't have a clear picture of what it's actually like to work at your organisation. A recruitment video can help change that.

It gives your hiring team a reusable asset that can:

  • show the people and culture behind your business
  • give candidates an honest view of the role
  • use employee testimonials to build trust
  • help applicants picture themselves working with you
  • filter for people who are a better fit
  • support recruitment campaigns across multiple channels

Recruitment videos can be used across careers pages, job ads, LinkedIn, recruitment events, presentations and direct candidate conversations.

At Lift Video Production, we've created hundreds of videos across industries including healthcare, transport, engineering and civil construction. One recent recruitment campaign achieved a 42% increase in applicants compared with the previous year.

If you want to use video to attract better applicants and give candidates a clearer picture of your organisation, book a call with Lift Video Production.

Frequently asked questions

What people ask us before a recruitment project.

Who should be on camera?

The people doing the job you are hiring for, plus one leader who can speak to where the role leads. We help you choose, and we speak with everyone before the shoot day.

Our people have never been filmed. Will it look natural?

Yes. Almost nobody we film has been on camera before. We pre-interview them, ask questions instead of handing over a script, and film them doing their actual work.

Where should a recruitment video run?

On your careers page, in the job ad on Seek and LinkedIn, and in paid social aimed at the people you want. Short vertical versions do most of the work on Facebook, Instagram and TikTok.

How long should it be?

One to two minutes for the careers page film, and 15 to 45 seconds for ads. The short versions need to make sense with the sound off.

Can we recruit for several roles from one shoot?

Yes. We plan the shoot so each role gets its own film or ad, which is how the Linfox work covered graduates, drivers and mechanics.

How do we know whether it worked?

Track applications, application quality and time to fill for the roles the video supports, before and after. Linfox measured graduate applications, which rose 42 percent with all 22 roles filled.

How much does a recruitment video cost?

A recruitment or employer brand campaign runs $25K to $60K. A single careers film or profile starts around $6K.

How long does it take?

Typically a project from signing the contract lasts about 12 weeks. If roles open on a set date, we plan backwards from it.
